The NFL has fined New York Giants tight end Thomas Fidone and three New Orleans Saints players for actions in their Week 6 game at MetLife Stadium on October 18.
Fidone received a $5,791 fine for unnecessary roughness on a blindside block with 4:13 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Officials flagged the play, which came during a punt return, but the Saints declined the penalty. The second-year tight end, a 2025 seventh-round selection out of Nebraska, has mostly worked on special teams this season while competing in a crowded position room for offensive snaps.
Saints defensive tackle Vernon Broughton was fined $8,381 for a hit on a quarterback described as a blow to the head or neck. The play occurred with 3:39 left in the second quarter.
Defensive
linemen Christen Miller and Chase Young each drew fines for unsportsmanlike conduct involving a violent gesture with 39 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Miller was assessed $11,915, and Young received $14,926.
The four fines total $41,013.
The Giants lost 34-27 in a game that produced 17 penalties for 125 combined yards.
Players can appeal the discipline. Blindside blocks and certain quarterback hits fall under the league’s player-safety rules, under which a third major infraction in the same category can lead to an automatic one-game suspension.
The Week 6 accountability report covered 2,354 plays and produced 27 fines league-wide.
