New York Giants cornerback Greg Newsome II is ready for a familiar fight when the Dallas Cowboys visit MetLife Stadium in Week 1.
After Wednesday’s practice, Newsome told reporters that he has studied Dallas receivers George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb all summer.
“I mean, I’ve played against Pickens in the AFC North a lot. And then obviously, CeeDee, somebody that obviously I’ve played against him as well,” Newsome said. “My job is simple. Don’t let them catch the ball. Don’t give up any explosive plays. When they do catch the ball, make them feel it and tackle. Definitely two great receivers, but we’ll be ready.”
The history with Pickens is personal. In November 2024, in a snowy Cleveland Browns win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the two fought during
and after a failed Hail Mary. Pickens dragged Newsome by the helmet out of the end zone.

Newsome later called him a “fake tough guy.” Pickens claimed he did not know who Newsome was, then sat out their rematch with a hamstring injury. Their paths did not cross last season, when Pickens was in Dallas and Newsome split time between Cleveland and Jacksonville.
Asked how much he is looking forward to seeing Pickens again, Newsome said he is “super excited” for the challenge and that he will be ready.
"Obviously, like I said, we’ve played each other a lot and I'm super excited for the challenge. I'll be ready," he added.

They will not be exchanging Christmas cards. “Nah, wouldn’t do that.”
Sunday Night Football will be their first meeting since that 2024 scrap.
