J.J. McCarthy’s first start ended in an overtime win that kept the New York Giants alone in first place in the NFC East heading into their bye.
The game did not turn on the passing game. Cam Skattebo, effectively benched the previous week after an overtime fumble against Washington in Week 5, carried 17 times for 124 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown. In overtime, he broke a 42-yard run that set up Devin Singletary’s 30-yard score.
Houston had tied the game late in regulation. New York finished it after forcing a Texans three-and-out in the extra frame.
Pro Football Focus has graded the tape from Houston. The final two runs will get most of the attention. The grades will show which players actually controlled the snaps that got the Giants into
position to win it.
