Jaxson Dart enters the 2026 NFL season with expectations of taking another step forward as the New York Giants’ starting quarterback.
Yahoo Sports’ Frank Schwab named Dart one of his top 10 breakout candidates for the upcoming season.
There was a weird stretch when people were questioning whether Dart was the answer for the Giants. It's unclear what more he could have done as a rookie, aside from stay healthy.
Dart looked good as a rookie, though the missed time was a concern. He had 2,272 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions with 487 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns despite starting only 12 games. This season he should have Malik Nabers for most of the season and a better coaching staff to work with. Last year's first-round
draft pick can leave no doubt that he's the Giants' quarterback of the foreseeable future.
Dart started 12 of the 14 games he played in 2025. He recorded 2,272 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He averaged 6.7 yards per attempt and posted a 91.7 passer rating. Dart also proved a significant rushing threat, registering 487 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
His preseason play offered further encouragement. Dart made sound throws, found receivers in the end zone and created plays that point to what he can produce over a 17-game schedule.
A strong statistical season and a surprise playoff run appear to be in the cards for Dart in 2026.
