New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has had to endure much frustration over his first two-plus seasons as an NFL professional.
Surely, the rapport he built with quarterback Jaxson Dart was shattered by Dart's untimely injury, but his newfound connection with reserve quarterback Jameis Winston has to give him some optimism heading into Week 5.
Nabers was practically unstoppable in Sunday’s 36-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, who were without their starting cornerback Will Johnson. Yet, Nabers is simply being restored to his projected potential, having entered the NFL through the 2024 draft class.
Nabers was acquired by the franchise to be an offensive juggernaut, and his slow recovery and rehabilitation from last season are beginning
to bring that initiative to fruition.
Nabers hauled in six catches for 112 yards and one touchdown, but his game-long 39-yard reception in the first quarter sent waves of bliss through MetLife Stadium.
"I knew it was coming," Nabers said after the game, via the New York Post. “Everybody was asking me [how I felt]. I felt good throughout the whole week. I just didn’t want to jinx myself. I was trying to be humble and wait for the game to come to me.
“I felt good coming out there. I know I’m capable of more. It’s just a little bit of what I can do. I can do more."
Nabers and the Giants are projected to have a field day versus the heavily injured Washington Commanders in Week 5. However, on a larger scale, Nabers has likely put the entire league on alert after such a dominant performance versus the Cardinals in Week 4.
