This offseason, John Harbaugh, the first-year head coach of the New York Giants, told reporters that he wants his offense to operate in "many worlds" and be capable of doing a myriad of things as needed.
Teams that have been paying attention will have the best shot at keeping up with the likes of quarterback Jaxson Dart, running back Cam Skattebo, and wide receiver Malik Nabers this season.
Count the Dallas Cowboys, the Giants' opponent in this Sunday night's season opener, as one of those teams. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters on Wednesday that his revamped defense is preparing for anything and everything the Giants are planning.

The Cowboys will have to confront the Giants' shifting and swapping of personnel blow for blow if they have any chance of stopping them.
"They've got very specific people that they do very specific things with," said Schottenheimer. "You know, (Patrick) Ricard's different than (Isaiah) Likely, you know? I mean, Malik Nabers is different than Odell (Beckham, Jr). So, you have to know, 'Oh, (Cam) Scattabo's in the game. Tyrone Tracy's in the game.' So, again, the guys in the box have to do a great job. They do a nice job of shuffling their pieces around, but you know, we have plans for different groupings and different people, and they definitely challenge you with that.
"And so, game one we'll be tested, but again I think the fact that we communicate very, very well and have a good plan going in. I think we'll be in good shape."
Giants' head coach John Harbaugh won't reveal much about who's playing and where now that the season's starting, but he did offer some kind words for America's Team and Schottenheimer.
"Hard to say, it's hard to say," Harbaugh replied when asked what he sees in Dallas as a team. "I mean, I have tons of respect for Coach Schottenheimer, tons of respect for the organization. They're always, I mean, the Cowboys are the Cowboys. They're talented, they're tough, and you've seen them more than I have. We played them a few times; I've seen them on tape, but nothing but respect for what they do. They do it their way, and they've got a bunch of guys; fast football team that flies around.
"A lot of talent on offense, they're rebuilding their defense, they have a new defensive coordinator (Christian Parker), comes from a great system. He's a really sharp, up-and-coming guy. So, they're a very formidable football team, very formidable opponent. But you don't really know where anybody's at yet. So, all these games get played early in the season, we'll start to get a gauge on everybody, but tremendous respect for the Cowboys and everybody there."
The chess match has already begun.
