Former New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans.

Shepard worked out with Houston this week and agreed to terms with the Texans late on Friday.
With the regular season just a few weeks away, it is not uncommon to see teams turning to veterans to fill voids on their rosters. The Texans did just that by signing Shepard as well as fellow veteran Zay Jones after losing one of their wide receivers to injury.
Shepard was selected by the Giants in the second round of
the 2016 NFL draft and spent his first eight seasons with Big Blue. After leaving the Giants following the 2023 season, he played the past two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Shepard posted back-to-back 300-plus-yard seasons in Tampa Bay and scored a touchdown in each of those campaigns.
His production over the last two seasons may not match the contributions he made early in his career. However, the former second-round pick has clearly shown he can still contribute in the passing game at this stage of his career.
The Texans coincidentally host the Giants in Week 7. If Shepard makes the team and remains on the roster, he will get the chance to play against the franchise that drafted him—something he did not do while with the Buccaneers the past two seasons.
Shepard, who turned 33 early in the offseason, clearly wants to continue his career and is confident he has enough left in the tank to play in 2026 and potentially beyond.
