New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh expressed confidence in tight end Thomas Fidone’s ability to contribute on offense ahead of Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
The comments come with Theo Johnson ruled out due to a neck injury, increasing the likelihood that Fidone will see additional snaps alongside Isaiah Likely and Chris Manhertz.
Asked what Fidone can provide if given the chance, Harbaugh was direct.
“Oh, he could help us. He could help us,” he told reporters on Friday. “He’s had great practices, runs good routes, played well on special teams last week. Thomas is ready to play, as he showed last week when he was on special teams.”
Fidone, a 2025 seventh-round selection out of Nebraska, has spent much of the early season working
on special teams while competing in a crowded tight end room. Harbaugh’s assessment points to the progress the second-year player has shown in practice and his readiness when opportunities arise.
With Johnson unavailable, the Giants will need reliable options at the position. Fidone’s route-running and recent special-teams performance offer a foundation for an increased role against the Saints.
New York will look for that preparation to translate as they host New Orleans at MetLife Stadium.
