The New York Giants cut their first draft of their 2026 53-man roster on Sunday to comply with league rules, but no one should be resting easy.
The waiver wire for all players waived on Sunday is open until 1:00 p.m. on Monday for teams to place claims. The Giants hold the fifth preference on the wire and should see at least one or two players that they believe can help them float their way.
But to complete a claim, they will have to drop a player from their 53-man roster to make room.
We don't know who those players could be, but we'll give it a try.
TE Thomas Fidone II
The Giants don't really need four tight ends, do they? They kept Fidone because they love his upside and also didn't want to expose him to waivers. Theo Johnson is also dealing with a shoulder injury,
so that could have been another reason to keep him.
LB Zaire Barnes
Barnes made the club after balling out on both defense and special teams this summer, but he's the Giants' No. 5 inside linebacker, and if the right player comes down the pike, they might have to bite the bullet and let him go.
CB Nic Jones
The Giants aren't very deep at corner, but of the six players they have at the position on the roster, he might be the one they have to part with.
S Elijah Campbell
Another special teams player they would hate to part with, but he's at the bottom of the depth chart behind Jevon Holand, Tyler Nubin, Jason Pinnock, and Ar'Darius Washington.
