New York Giants right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor is scheduled for an MRI on Monday to assess the severity of a calf injury he sustained during Sunday’s 27-27 overtime tie with the Washington Commanders.
Eluemunor left the contest late in the third quarter after the injury and was listed as questionable to return. He limped off the field, was evaluated in the medical tent, and then headed to the locker room.
Postgame reports indicated Eluemunor felt better while walking around on his own, though he described feeling a pop in the calf. Such injuries can be unpredictable, and the expectation is that he will miss some time as the team awaits imaging results.
Marcus Mbow entered the game at right tackle in Eluemunor’s place. The fifth-round selection
from 2025 has served primarily as the Giants’ swing tackle, and early indications suggest he could start against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6.
Depending on the MRI findings, Mbow could also remain in the lineup for the subsequent trip to Houston and through New York’s bye week, which would afford Eluemunor roughly three weeks of recovery.
The Giants’ injury concerns were not limited to the offensive line. Cornerback Colton Hood exited with a concussion after appearing to take a head shot on a kickoff as the third quarter expired. The second-round rookie was evaluated in the locker room.
Safety Tyler Nubin also left the field in the fourth quarter after absorbing a hit to the head and neck area and was listed as questionable with a neck issue.
The results of Eluemunor’s MRI will provide greater clarity on the timeline for his return and the short-term outlook for the offensive line.
