The New York Giants inquired about Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill ahead of the NFL trade deadline, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter, even as much of the surrounding speculation focused on a potential deal for star back Derrick Henry.
Whether or not they did is moot; Baltimore is said never to have considered dealing Henry before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. A league source told ESPN that the one Ravens running back that the Giants inquired about was Justice Hill.
The interest aligns with John Harbaugh’s extensive familiarity with Hill and the Giants' ongoing search for another running back.
After spending 18 seasons as Baltimore’s head coach, Harbaugh oversaw Hill’s entire professional career to date. The Ravens drafted the Oklahoma State
product in the fourth round in 2019, and he developed into a reliable complementary option valued for his speed, versatility in the passing game, and special teams contributions.
Harbaugh has previously highlighted Hill’s consistent work ethic and positive attitude as standout qualities during his time with the organization.
Rumors linking the Giants to Henry gained traction amid Baltimore’s quarterback injuries and a 4-5 record, with some suggesting a reunion under Harbaugh could make sense. The Ravens, however, have shown no interest in moving their veteran back. They recently informed Henry they have no intention of trading him, and the five-time Pro Bowler has said he has not discussed leaving, instead emphasizing a desire to help the team improve.
With Jacoby Brissett expected to help keep Baltimore competitive while Lamar Jackson attempts to work toward a 2026 return, Henry remains central to their plans.
For the Giants, the reported inquiry on Hill reflects an ongoing evaluation of backfield options as they approach the deadline, seeking additional depth and reliability.
