The New York Giants and New York Jets close out the preseason on Friday night at MetLife Stadium, where the Jets serve as the home team in the stadium both clubs share. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. as the two sides make their last evaluations before Sunday's roster cuts and the Giants' regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.
Both teams are expected to rest a large number of starters. Giants coach John Harbaugh declined to specify who will play, calling the choice a balancing act between useful communication reps under the lights and the risk of injury after a long stretch without game action.
“There would be things to be gained for those guys to play defensively as well from a communication standpoint. But there’s risk,” Harbaugh
said. “It’s just a balancing act of what we gain the most from with the least amount of risk. That’s what we’ve got to figure out.”
That gap since the Aug. 15 opener, he added, is the central factor.
