CBS Sports ranked every first-round NFL draft selection from 2020 through 2025, evaluating 191 players based on each team's decision rather than pure talent. The New York Giants placed eight players on the list, reflecting a decade of sharp contrasts.
Four selections landed in the top third of best first-round decisions: Edge rusher Abdul Carter at No. 38, quarterback Jaxson Dart at No. 40, left tackle Andrew Thomas at No. 42 and wide receiver Malik Nabers at No. 51.
Four others fell into the most disappointing category: Edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux at No. 131, wide receiver Kadarius Toney at No. 151, cornerback Deonte Banks at No. 161 and offensive tackle Evan Neal at No. 185.
Neal's ranking placed him near the very bottom of the entire group.
There's been no in-between for the Giants this decade. They've either nabbed franchise cornerstones or had complete whiffs. Now they just need those cornerstones to stay healthy. Jaxson Dart, Andrew Thomas and Malik Nabers have had their careers marred by injuries to date. If all are healthy this season, the Giants should finally make the leap to playoff contention.
Despite Neal's struggles after being drafted seventh overall in 2022, the Giants re-signed him in March on a one-year deal under head coach John Harbaugh, who expressed belief in his remaining potential.
