In a bevy of moves to cut the roster to 53 players on Sunday, the New York Giants also made a decision regarding one of their young cornerbacks.
After pulling his groin during the preseason finale against the New York Jets, the team opted to place second-year cornerback Korie Black on the Reserve/Injured list with a desgination to return once he's healthy.
The move allows the Giants to keep a young player they're interested in while also making room for another viable depth piece to satisfy the 53-man roster. How long Black will be out remains to be seen, but it's enough to keep him off the field for at least the first four games of the regular season.

A seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Black joined the Giants out of Oklahoma State. He didn't see a ton of action during his rookie campaign, logging only 184 defensive snaps and 55 special teams snaps. He finished his rookie season with 18 tackles (seven solo), one tackle for loss and one pass defensed.
Black was enjoying a solid preseason and seemed to be vying for the final spot in the cornerback room. He led the entire defense with four passes defensed throughout the preseason before his injury.
The Giants will seemingly begin the season with Paulson Adebo, Dru Phillips, Greg Newsome II, Deonte Banks, Colton Hood and Nic Jones as the team's six cornerbacks.
