The New York Giants secured a 27-27 tie on Sunday when the Washington Commanders failed to snap the ball before the overtime clock expired at Northwest Stadium.
Washington reached field-goal range after recovering a Cam Skattebo fumble but could not align for a spike with no timeouts left. Defensive tackle Darius Alexander appeared to step on the loose ball as officials tried to set it, delaying the snap further.

John Harbaugh described the final seconds
"I didn't want anybody to say something different happened. I wanted to get off the field before they could take it away from us, I guess. I was surprised. I was surprised. I can't
say that I wasn't. It was a pretty shocking end there," he said.
Isaiah Likely was shocked
"Defense get us the ball back, please," he recalled thinking in the final seconds. "I mean I honestly was shocked. I never tied up before in my NFL career, really in any game."
Jameis Winston expressed gratitude
"Grateful, very grateful. I was just thankful. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Although they should not have been in that position, so we have to do our part. Our defense has been playing phenomenal," he said. "I'm so happy that the game ended that way, out of the possible outcomes that it could have ended with, but I have to be better for this team so that we could be in a better position than that."
Cam Skattebo watched the sequence in fear
"That was insane. The fact that they even let that happen. I guess God has my back in a way. I got to be better for this team. Especially at the end of the game there," he said.
Jevon Holland detailed the moment
"The play that ran previously, I was a, man, I kind of ran across, and I was running with the man. I was on the field, and I turned around and looked at the clock, and there was like five seconds left. I was like, 'okay, they can't spike it,' and then the clock ran out," he said.
Abdul Carter shared his reaction
"Yeah, I was. I'm just shocked, honestly. I seen the clock winding down; it was like two, three seconds left. I'm like, 'all right, they gonna get a snap'. Then I seen they were still laying on the ground. I was like, 'oh, game over.'"
The Commanders should never have reached that spot, yet their failure to spike left the game tied and gifted the Giants something other than a crushing loss.
