Is it too early in this NFL season to be scoreboard-watching?
Not if you're the New York Giants, who are alone atop the NFC East and, with a win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday and a Philadelphia Eagles loss to Jacksonville in London, can widen their division lead to two games after five weeks.
NFC East Standings:
— SleeperNFL (@SleeperNFL) October 9, 2026
3-1 Giants
2-2 Eagles
2-3 Cowboys
1-3 Commanders
Dallas lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night, dropping them to 2-3. Philadelphia has too many injuries to key players, including running back Saquon Barkley, tight end Dallas Goedert, and wide receiver DeVonta Smith, and lost two offensive linemen this week. They face a 3-1 Jaguars team that has been going great guns.
The Giants are 3.5-point underdogs in Washington
this Sunday, despite the Commanders listing 23 players on their injury report Thursday, most notably quarterback Jayden Daniels, who will play with a brace on his dislocated left elbow.
A win in Washington would improve the Giants' record to 4-1 on the year and make them 2-0 in the division. Big Blue has not won the NFC East since 2011, when they were Super Bowl XLVI champions.
