Emily Tisch Sussman, who is part of the New York Giants' ownership group, expanded her support of women’s sports into motorsports on Friday.
Sussman, who also co-owns NWSL side Gotham FC, sponsored the No. 66 Toyota driven by Dystany Spurlock in the ARCA Menards Series LiUNA 150 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The car featured the logo of Sussman’s “She Pivots” podcast on the hood, marking her first venture into racing.
Spurlock, the first Black woman to compete in NASCAR or the ARCA Series, started 19th and finished 13th, one lap down after completing 149 circuits. She spun on lap 71 to bring out a caution but recovered to secure a top-15 result.
Kaden Honeycutt won the 150-lap event.
“I’m so excited to put this partnership on track and
demonstrate what’s truly possible when women show up for each other,” Spurlock said beforehand, via USA TODAY. “She Pivots is all about empowerment and creating opportunities for women.”
Sussman attended the race to support Spurlock. The Giants co-owner’s involvement highlighted a continued effort to elevate women across sports.
