The New York Giants aren't using two season-ending knee injuries as an excuse to stand still.
Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported late on Monday there is buzz that the club wants to remain aggressive in the trade market, hours after New York sent a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams. Linebacker Brian Burns then tore his right ACL in Sunday’s 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans and will miss the rest of the season, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed Monday.
New York is 2-1, but it has lost its starting
quarterback and its top pass rusher in consecutive weeks.
That backdrop explains why more moves are being discussed. Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been a frequent name linked to the Giants since early September, when Pittsburgh’s contract standoff with the 2023 first-round pick resurfaced. New York once graded Porter similarly to Deonte Banks, and a secondary that already invited questions makes him a logical target.
However, nothing connecting Porter to this latest buzz has been confirmed.
Burns’ absence creates a second, more urgent hole. Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux are still in the edge room, but the Giants now need another pass rusher if they intend to keep pushing.
Harbaugh was not hired to manage a holding pattern. The McCarthy trade showed he is still looking for ways to compete.
