The New York Giants signed veteran running back Najee Harris to a one-year deal earlier this week.
Harris most recently spent 2025 with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he suffered a season-ending torn Achilles during Week 3. The talented back appears fully healthy -- or nearing full health -- entering 2026 and quickly made his presence felt upon arriving at Giants training camp.
NFL analyst Brian Baldinger recently shared his thoughts on Harris’ performance during New York’s joint practice with the Dolphins, saying the running back looked excellent.
Guess who stood out to @BaldyNFL today for the Giants? “No. 22” Najee Harris was “galloping” for Giants vs Dolphins, showing some “pop” and “juice” 👀 #talkinball https://t.co/OEVRzT13uK pic.twitter.com/pNxxqWxSLV

“The guy that popped more than anybody was number 22,” Baldinger said. “The running back looked good. He was galloping out there, and he’s a physical back. He’s what John likes, man. He likes those big backs. Obviously he’s had Derrick Henry, but to see him out there right now, he looked good. He looked like he had some pop and juice. He looked healthy.”
Head coach John Harbaugh admitted the plan wasn't to immediately throw Harris into live drills, previously suggesting a two-to-three-week ramp-up, but things changed quickly.
"I don't know if it was always the plan, but he was ready. He looked good yesterday and he said he felt good. He wanted to get in there, and he looked good," the coach said.
Harris recorded just 61 yards on 15 carries before his injury last season. He spent the first four years of his NFL career as a key component in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ backfield and could once again play at a high level this season if he remains fully healthy.
Harris has looked sharp through his practice with New York and may emerge as a critical piece of the Giants’ offense moving forward.
