The New York Giants are 3-1-1 through their first five games of the John Harbaugh era. The most impressive part of that start is that the team lost arguably its two most important players, quarterback Jaxson Dart and linebacker Brian Burns, in back-to-back weeks.
As the Giants play out the rest of the season, the front office may need to add rotational depth on the defensive line to help fill the void left by Burns.
Following the injury, a few veterans offered their services, including former Harbaugh players Jason Pierre-Paul and Yannick Ngakoue from their time together in Baltimore.
Just a few weeks later, the Giants are bringing Ngakoue in for a workout.

Ngakoue played for the Baltimore Ravens under Harbaugh for parts of the 2020 and 2024 seasons. Across his career from 2016 to 2024, he suited up for a total of seven teams. At 31, it is unclear how much he can still contribute.
At minimum, Ngakoue would offer a veteran presence and a rotational option with Pro Bowl experience. He could also serve as a mentor for Abdul Carter as the second-year edge rusher continues to develop.
In 2024, Ngakoue recorded 1.5 sacks between stints with the Ravens and New England Patriots. His last significant production came in 2022, when he totaled 9.5 sacks after posting 10 the year before. Even if he is healthy and ready to play, questions remain about how much he has left.
Still, Ngakoue's veteran leadership and prior experience under Harbaugh appear to have earned him a look on Monday. Whether the Giants add him to the practice squad afterward remains to be seen.
