The Sporting News writer Vinnie Iyer has the New York Giants taking Ole Miss defensive tackle Will Echoles with the No. 13 overall pick in his latest 2027 NFL mock draft.
The projection arrived as the 2026 college football season opened and early boards for next April began to firm up. Iyer's first round is built around a three-quarterback start featuring Texas, Oregon, and Notre Dame prospects.
Echoles is listed at 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds. Iyer framed the selection around the hole created last offseason.
The Giants traded Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals so they would be in the market for an active, well-rounded tackle with pass-rush upside.
This is not the first time the interior lineman has been mocked to New York. In late August, ESPN draft analyst
Jordan Reid also sent Echoles to the Giants, this time at No. 9 overall in a preseason first-round projection.
The Houston, Mississippi, product broke out as a sophomore in 2025, recording 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks over 15 games and earning first-team All-SEC honors. Evaluators describe a compact, powerful run defender who already shows pass-rush tools and the versatility to play multiple interior alignments. That profile matches the well-rounded tackle Iyer said the Giants would target after moving Lawrence.
At this early point in the cycle, Echoles continues to surface as one of the more consistent first-round defensive tackle names connected to New York.
