The New York Giants scored touchdowns on four of their first six possessions in Sunday night's 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
One reason is that they've shifted priorities under first-year offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. They want to maximize every possession.
"We went into last week, and we said, no field goals, we need touchdowns," Nagy told reporters on Thursday. "And that's got to be all year, but no field goals, no field goals, no field goals. Touchdowns, touchdowns, touchdowns, and we did that.
"We put a great game plan together, the players executed it, and now we have to be able to – we’ve got to be able to do it again, and all year long. It can't just be a one-week thing."
The Giants' offense was very efficient, converting on nine
of 11 third-down tries. They held the football for 36:40, including the final five minutes, and ended the game with three straight kneels from Jaxson Dart.
