Will New York Giants running back Najee Harris be a factor in fantasy football in the upcoming 2026 NFL season?
Harris is the newcomer to the Giants’ running back room. Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary sit ahead of him in the team’s pecking order. Harris, however, remains in control of his own performance through the rest of the summer and preseason.
He must practice at a level that earns him not only a spot on the final 53-man roster but also a meaningful role in the offense. His track record suggests he is capable of doing exactly that.
Pro Football Focus' Nathan Jahnke assessed Harris as a late-round running back with the potential to become a weekly must-start fantasy option in 2026.
Harris is a solid handcuff option. His
lack of big-play ability and the uncertainty surrounding New York’s offense limit his ceiling compared to some alternatives, but he has a clearer path than most handcuffs to standalone flex value. He could even climb to the top of the depth chart without needing another back to suffer an injury.
Harris has a history of rushing for more than 1,000 yards. He did so in each of his first four seasons in the league. An Achilles injury took its toll on him last season with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Returning to form in a crowded New York running back room, where the other three backs each serve a needed purpose, will be a challenge. Navigating that situation in a way that benefits fantasy football managers next season will not be simple. With strong play, though, Harris may be able to climb the ladder and become a factor.
