The New York Giants are signing offensive lineman Josh Gesky to their practice squad, reports ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
The undrafted rookie out of Illinois had spent the first five weeks of the 2026 season on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad before being released Tuesday to clear a spot for cornerback Elijah Culp.
Gesky, a 6-foot-5, 308-pound interior lineman from Manteno, Ill., started all 26 games at left guard over his final two seasons at Illinois and earned All-Big Ten honorable mention recognition each of the past three years. He signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent following a pre-draft visit and a strong pro day that featured a 5.03-second 40-yard dash, a 33-inch vertical leap and 30 bench-press repetitions.
The opening
on New York’s practice squad became available after the Giants signed linebacker Malik Harrison to the 53-man roster on Tuesday.
Harrison, who had joined the practice squad in early September, had already been elevated the maximum three times this season and contributed primarily on special teams, including a fumble recovery in the Week 3 win over the Titans.
Gesky provides additional developmental depth along the interior of the offensive line as the Giants manage their roster through the middle portion of the schedule. The move continues New York’s pattern of adding experienced practice-squad options at positions of need while keeping roster flexibility elsewhere.
