The New York Giants confirmed a pair of jersey number changes ahead of the regular season, highlighted by Odell Beckham Jr. returning to No. 13.
Beckham made that number famous in his first stretch with the franchise from 2014 to 2018. As a rookie, he delivered the one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys that became one of the most replayed moments in team history, then built a five-year run of 390 receptions, 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns.
He later wore No. 3 with the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins.
Jalin Hyatt had worn 13 since 2023, taking the number after saying he wanted to start his own legacy in it. Hyatt was waived during final cuts and signed to the practice squad, opening the digit.
Asked Monday about reclaiming
it, Beckham hinted that a change was coming.
“I think we all know what that means to me, and there definitely will be some conversations. I’ll just say we’ll see what happens, but like I said, it would be an honor and a privilege to put that back on," he said.
The switch lands with neat timing. The Giants open the season at home against the Cowboys on September 13.
Rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields also changed numbers, moving from No. 0 to No. 88.
Cornerback Dru Phillips and running back Najee Harris both remain in No. 22.
