The New York Giants are just weeks away from the start of the regular season, which means the injury report is constantly being monitored.
While most of the injury news throughout the preseason has been focused on star wideout Malik Nabers and fan-favorite Cam Skattebo, head coach John Harbaugh provided an update on several players following Wednesday's practice.
Headlining the group of the latest injury updates is third-year tight end Theo Johnson, who is currently dealing with a shoulder injury, despite reporters suggesting he was seen walking with a limp.
"Limping a little bit? God, I hope not. His shoulder was what was hurt. He wasn't walking on his hands, I don't think," Harbaugh said. "If he's limping, that would be news. Maybe he's sore
from his workout. Maybe he did legs today. It was a workout. But he's going to be fine. He's going to be good. He'll be ready. So, that was good news for us."
Johnson is an intriguing talent out of Penn State given his athleticism and some of the promise he showed during his second campaign when he finished with 45 receptions for 528 yards and five touchdowns. He's likely to work in a tight end room that is currently being led by Isaiah Likely, who came over from the Baltimore Ravens this offseason.
In other injury news, defensive lineman Shelby Harris has been sidelined for an undisclosed reason. However, Harbaugh expressed very little concern about the veteran's availability coming up.
"We're just managing him right now. He's going to be fine. He'll be ready to go," Harbaugh said.
The Giants also lost wide receiver Calvin Austin this week due to a torn ACL he suffered during Tuesday's practice. This could open the door for Odell Beckham Jr. to nab the final roster spot in the wide receiver room.
The Giants are set to wrap up the preseason Friday night with a finale against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, so we're not too far away from receiving official injury reports on a daily basis.
