The New York Giants (1-1) are set to return home for a Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans (0-2) at MetLife Stadium.
Even though the Giants are battered and bruised, there is still an expectation that they will come away with a win on Sunday against the Titans. Big Blue will be without quarterback Jaxson Dart (knee) and edge rusher Brian Burns (ankle).
The Giants won't have Dart for the remainder of the season, but they'll still be playing to win rather than tanking for a draft pick.
With this game coming up, there will be a few key matchups to keep an eye on in East Rutherford on Sunday.
Giants RG Sisi Mauigoa vs. Titans DL Jeffery Simmons
This will be the biggest matchup that will likely determine the outcome of the game. Simmons is still very much a threat on the interior defensive line
coming off the first All-Pro nod of his career. The Giants will have to bottle him up in order to stay competitive offensively.
Mauigoa had a strong debut in Week 1, but he allowed two quarterback hits in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams, according to Pro Football Focus. The rookie has shown immense promise early on, but this matchup will be a big one for the Giants.
Giants CB Greg Newsome II vs. Titans WR Carnell Tate
The Giants defense should have a favorable matchup overall against the Titans offense, which ranks 25th in yards per play. Tate has gotten off to a slow start to begin his career after being selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft this offseason. But the Giants will want to avoid allowing a breakout game to the Ohio State product.
Newsome has had an up-and-down start to the season, allowing an 84.8 passer rating and 14.8 yards per reception when targeted, according to Pro Football Focus. The Giants defense can turn in a strong performance if they force the Titans to become one dimensional.
Giants EDGE Abdul Carter vs. Titans RT J.C. Latham
Though he won't need surgery, the Giants are expected to be without star edge rusher Brian Burns after he suffered an ankle injury in the Week 2 loss against the Rams. That means Carter will have to step up into a bigger role as the team's premier source of pressure from the edge. He has five pressures across two games, according to PFF.
Meanwhile, Carter will be lining up plenty of times across from Latham, who is in his third season after being selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Latham has allowed just three total pressures on the season, according to PFF, giving Carter a stiff challenge on Sunday.
