Former New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson became a winning thoroughbred owner in his first try Saturday at Saratoga Race Course.
Wilson's two-year-old colt Club Reign, sent off at 8-1, captured the Travers Day opener by six lengths in a six-furlong maiden special weight. Jockey Edgard Zayas guided the Core Beliefs colt to a 1:11.27 finish on a fast dirt track for trainer Whit Beckman. The $115,000 race was Club Reign’s career debut.
Wilson watched from the winner’s circle with his wife, Ciara, and their children. The victory was the first starter for Three Brand Racing, Wilson’s stable connected to his 3BRAND apparel company. Club Reign was purchased for $475,000 at the 2026 OBS April 2-year-olds in training sale and is co-owned with Ribble
Farms and Walmac Farm.

“Club Reign, baby,” Wilson said. “We’re all in, baby, with Three Brand Racing. This is exciting. It’s a huge win for Three Brand Racing. I’m excited for Club Reign, and our trainer, Whit Beckman, is a stud.
“We like winning big moments in New York. We won the Super Bowl here, we win this, it feels like the same feeling.”
Wilson also said a first-out win on Travers Day “feels like rookie of the year.”
Club Reign was named a TDN Rising Star after the debut. Beckman listed the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes as an early target.
Wilson closed his 14-year NFL career with the Giants in 2025 before retiring and joining CBS as an analyst.
