The New York Giants will play their first game of November on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles. Throughout the month, the NFL will celebrate its annual Salute to Service campaign.
The Giants have selected Allison Stangeby, vice president of community relations, as their nominee for the NFL Salute to Service Award.

Stangeby discussed what it means to be a military mom following her nomination.
"Everybody can wrap their arms around saluting our
service members," Stangeby said, via Giants.com. "I have the utmost respect for people who make the decision to do that because it is a big deal. You put your life on hold and on the line to go into the military. What does it look like when you come out?"
Fans can vote for Stangeby and other nominees through November 30 at nfl.com/salutefanvote. This is the 16th year of the NFL's Salute to Service campaign. Each team nominates a player, coach, staff member, or alumnus who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to supporting U.S. service members, veterans, and their families.
After the November voting period, the NFL will announce three finalists in January. The winner will be recognized at the NFL Honors during Super Bowl Week, prior to Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles.
Stangeby's family has several ties to the military. Her father was a member of the National Guard, and all of her grandparents served in the military. Her husband is a DEA agent, and her adopted son currently serves in the U.S. Army.
Stangeby spoke about what it means to have a child in the military.
"He jumps out of planes all the time, but he'll always be Joey to me. Parents who have children in the military operate day to day, but what goes on behind the scenes is constant concern. Is he coming home? Did he get leave? Is he able to come? Is he getting deployed? He might get deployed in the next five or six weeks; we don't know. Are you coming home for Thanksgiving? Maybe, but I know you're not going to be home for Christmas, so it's just sad," she said.
"You look at these guys as your kids. I watch the families. You feel for the families, the soldiers, the law enforcement, and the fire department. As a family member, I get it. That's why we're here. We're always proud to support them because I know they support us and protect us."
Allison Stangeby has been with the Giants for a long time and helps the franchise stay connected to the military community and honor military families. Through her work, the Giants have supported military families, flown flags at MetLife Stadium, held military moments at every home game, and donated tickets to military families. She was also a vital part of the NFL's partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh won the Salute to Service Award in 2014 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. No Giants nominee has ever won the award. With the help of Giants fans, Stangeby could change that this year.
