Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet may have a chance to make his season debut on Sunday after head coach Mike Macdonald expressed optimism about where he is at in his recovery process.
According to The Athletic’s Andrew Destin, Macdonald gave an preview of what Charbonnet will be in line for in preparation for Week 7 following the team’s most recent loss to the Denver Broncos.
“He’s going to have a full week’s worth of reps. So, that’s exciting. And, there’s a possibility that we could see him on Sunday in some capacity. So, that’s exciting,” Macdonald said.
Charbonnet has yet to appear in a game this season as he continues to recover from a knee injury. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Seattle’s divisional-round playoff
victory over the San Francisco 49ers last season. The injury required surgery and has led to the Seahawks going with Jadarian Price, Emanuel Wilson and George Holani at running back to begin the year.
Charbonnet was productive in 2025, finishing the regular season with 730 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 184 carries across 16 games. He also recorded 20 receptions for 144 yards, providing Seattle with a reliable option both on the ground and in the passing game.
The Seahawks have waged an inconsistent rushing attack while Charbonnet has been unavailable. Wilson has had three highly-productive games, but has experienced his share of lows this year, and Price’s rookie season has been up-and-down, while Holani has handled his share of carries with a varied level of productivity. His potential return figures give Seattle another experienced back and provide additional flexibility in the ground game as the team prepares to face Kansas City on Sunday.
