The Seattle Seahawks have big decisions to make in their backfield for the Week 5 divisional matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. After doing some roster shuffling, there are currently four backs on the active 53-man roster. Emanuel Wilson should earn the bulk of the workload against the 49ers.
The Seahawks recently signed Robert Henry Jr. to the active roster off the Washington Commanders' practice squad. George Holani and Velus Jones Jr. are also on the roster. Offensive coordinator Brian Fleury has some issues to sort through.
Rookie Jadarian Price will remain on IR for the foreseeable future. Zach Charbonnet is working to get back from last year's ACL tear. Even Rashid Shaheed was involved in the backfield last week as Coach Fleury searched
for answers.
Wilson rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown via 21 carries last week. He averaged only 3.9 yards per carry and was fortunate to not lose a fumble. Wilson also added three receptions for 39 yards and a second touchdown to his offensive totals through the receiving game.
Wilson should lead this Seahawks backfield versus the 49ers. Hopefully things are less complicated once Charbonnet and Price return. Until then, Wilson possesses the hot hand.
