Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu had the play of the game in the team’s 30-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, as he recorded a strip-sack on Justin Herbert in closing moments of the game to secure the victory.
With 59 seconds remaining and the Chargers facing second down, Herbert dropped back with Los Angeles trying to mount a tying drive. Nwosu turned the corner and beat Chargers offensive lineman Logan Taylor, reached Herbert and poked the ball out of his grasp. Derick Hall recovered the fumble for Seattle, immediately ending the Chargers’ final possession.
The turnover denied Los Angeles a last-minute opportunity to reach the end zone and potentially force overtime or secure the win with a two-point conversion after a touchdown.
The Chargers had taken possession with 1:42 left, trailing by seven, and needed a touchdown plus an extra point to extend the game. Instead, Nwosu’s pressure created the decisive mistake, allowing Seattle to take over and run out the clock.
The victory lifted Seattle to 3-1 on the season. The Seahawks will host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5 in an early divisional test. Through four games, Nwosu has six tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, two passes defended and one forced fumble. His sack of Herbert was his first of the season and delivered Seattle’s most important defensive stop.
