The Seattle Seahawks will be without linebacker Drake Thomas against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football in Week 6. Head coach Mike Macdonald ruled Thomas out, along with running back Zach Charbonnet and LB Chazz Surratt. Thomas' absence means Tyrice Knight will start opposite Ernest Jones IV at linebacker.
That puts Knight in a big spot versus an aggressive Broncos offense. The former UTEP standout started nine games as a rookie and once looked like a surefire long-term solution for the Seahawks defense. Knight had 88 tackles for the Seahawks in 16 games as a rookie (2024).
Knight lost his starting job as a sophomore to Thomas. He spent portions of the offseason dealing with various injuries. Thomas capitalized on the opportunity and
hasn't looked back since. Knight only made four starts as a second-year pro in 2025.
Knight has been a dedicated backup linebacker ever since. The 118th overall selection in the 2024 draft has played just 23 defensive snaps heading into TNF versus the Broncos. Knight has been a core special teamer, playing the team's third-most snaps (101) in that phase.
The Seahawks will need Knight against Broncos running backs J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey on Thursday.
