The Seattle Seahawks made a significant roster move on Wednesday morning. According to reporting from NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Seahawks have promoted safety Rodney Thomas to their active 53-man roster. Thomas had been elevated from the practice squad in each of the last two games to start Seattle's season. Now he has been signed to the roster full time because he has absolutely earned it.
Through two games Thomas has four total tackles, three of which were solo. His biggest play came in Week 1 when his critical pass defense led to an interception of Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. This was the first of three interceptions thrown by Maye in the fourth quarter, and perhaps one of the most critical as it completely reinvigorated the 12th Man.

Rodney Thomas II was signed to the Seahawks in free agency this offseas, but did not survive the final round of roster cuts. He was immediately signed to the practice squad, and has made the most of his opportunities with Seattle.
Thomas' full-time promotion to the active 53-man roster might signify that regular starter Ty Okada is still nowhere near ready to return, and may even warrant a trip to the Injured Reserve (IR) list. Okada has been a non-participant in every Seahawks practice to start the season so far which has prompted Thomas' elevation.
Should Okada find his way to IR, that would be the corresponding move to adding Thomas to the roster. We at Seahawks Wire will report back as soon as there is more information.
