The saga of Seattle Seahawks running back Joe Mixon was short lived. Actually, it was over before it truly began. Let us review the timeline: on Sunday, prior to Seattle's Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Seahawks were hosting veteran running back Joe Mixon for a visit. The visit apparently went well enough that Seattle signed Mixon to their practice squad on Monday.
Well... not so fast. Apparently the Seahawks must have had potential buyer's remorse, because Mixon will in fact remain a free agent. ESPN's Adam Schefter is now reporting that Seattle will not be signing Mixon to their practice squad following a physical.

Mixon's injury history clearly is not doing him any favors. He missed the entirety of the 2025 campaign with a foot injury sustained prior to the season.
Earlier on Tuesday, we at Seahawks Wire published an article about how Mixon's addition further complicates an increasingly crowded Seattle backfield. The fact he is not signing makes it both less and more complicated. On one hand, one less mouth to feed carries to. On the other, it's a bit of a blow to a Seahawks team still trying to figure out their running back situation. Seattle did sign Robert Henry Jr. off the Commanders' practice squad on Monday, so there is that element as well.
The Seahawks are also signing RB Robert Henry Jr. off the Commanders’ practice squad, as @Schultz_Report reported. Henry is an undrafted rookie from UTSA.

So Joe Mixon will join Seattle’s PS as long as he passes his physical, and Henry will join their 53-man roster.
