The Seattle Seahawks made a blockbuster trade earlier this week, acquiring All Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. Nelson is expected to make his Seahawks debut on Monday Night Football here in Week 8 versus the Chicago Bears. The Bears just made a blockbuster trade of their own, getting All Pro DT Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans.
Simmons should debut versus the Seahawks on MNF. It leads to an interesting occurrence. Both Nelson and Simmons join their respective new organizations from the AFC South, where they spent nearly a decade squaring off one-versus-one in the trenches.
Simmons and Nelson already played once this season, when the Titans defeated the Colts 26-20 in Week 6. Simmons registered a season-high seven
pressures and two sacks in that game. It's worth noting Nelson wasn't credited with allowing any of those pressures.
The Titans were getting Simmons lined up against the Colts' other interior lineman. It'll be interesting to see how the Bears deploy Simmons on Monday. Will they target Grey Zabel or Jalen Sundell? Or will he choose familiarity in his new surroundings by aligning opposite Nelson at the line of scrimmage?
MNF will feature a familiar matchup, as two NFC contenders load up for a postseason run.
