Are the Seattle Seahawks still the preeminent team in the NFL after winning the Super Bowl at the end of last season?
The Seahawks will be tasked with defending their Vince Lombardi Trophy in 2026. Seattle made necessary moves to solidify a contending roster again for the upcoming 17-game slate throughout the offseason, and approach next season with perhaps the best defense in the NFL, as well as an offense that may surprise when the year is said and done. But is that enough to be viewed as a stronger team than some of the other elite teams in the league?
DAZN’s Jason Abbey ranked the Seahawks No. 2 overall in his NFL power rankings prior to the start of next season, given them the edge over every other team in the league save the Los Angeles
Rams.
“Yes, Kenneth Walker III is gone,” Abbey said. “And yes, losing Boye Mafe and Klint Kubiak might hurt, but even after those departures, Seattle will still be a force… The roster remains loaded, with Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Byron Murphy, Nick Emmanwori, Devon Witherspoon, Grey Zabel, Ernest Jones, and now rookie Jadarian Price.”
The Seahawks are still quite an exceptional team on paper. If that was not enough, Seattle had several backup performers play well in their 17-7 preseason loss to the Dallas Cowboys, including Tyrice Knight and Noah Igbinoghene, giving the champs confidence that their depth pieces will support their stars throughout next season the way they’ll be needed to in order to excel above all of the competition in the league.
