The Seattle Seahawks fell 33-31 on the road to the Washington Commanders in Week. The loss wasn't just uncharacteristic, it was borderline historic for this team. As 8.5 favorites, it was Seattle's worst loss by point spread
since the 2020 season. The Seahawks' 12-game win streak was snapped and the team fell to 2-1 despite 437 yards of offense and another two touchdown performance from Jaxon Smith-Njigba.It was a frustrating day for the Seahawks, but there was a silver lining: it may have been a worse day for the Rams.
The Rams also fell on the road in Week 3, dropping to 1-2 on the year. Los Angeles left Denver with a 30-26 loss after completely squandering a 16-0 halftime lead. The defining play in the game was quarterback Matt Stafford's
record-setting pick-six thrown to Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga, who promptly returned the ball 66 yards for a go-ahead score.
Matt Stafford is now in sole possession of the “thrown the most pick-6’s in NFL history” statistic. This was his 33rd, edging out Brett Favre. https://t.co/1c2ZcOBE6e

Week 3 created a smidgen of separation in the NFC West. At the top of the division is now the 3-0 San Francisco 49ers, who remain undefeated after narrowly edging out the Arizona Cardinals 36-30. However, the Niners are once again suffering from a string of injuries to key players, like wide receiver Mike Evans and left tackle Trent Williams who had to be carted off the field. The Seahawks are right behind them at 2-1, while the Rams and Cardinals share identical 1-2 records.
I am still of the belief the Rams are Seattle's biggest threat in division. Them stumbling to a 1-2 start out of the gate will likely be better for the Seahawks long term this season, and helps ease the sting of an avoidable loss to the Commanders.
