The Seattle Seahawks
are 1-0 on the season following their thrilling 13-10 victory over the New England Patriots in Week 1, and they did so without starting quarterback Sam Darnold. On Seattle's first drive of the game, Darnold was injured five plays in and did not return. What was initially ruled as a hip injury was quickly confirmed to be muscular in nature. Overall, Seattle believes they "dodged a bullet" when it comes to Darnold's health, especially since they avoided a hip fracture. Now we have a better idea of what kind of injury Darnold is dealing with. On Sunday morning, ahead of the rest of the Week 1 slate of games, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Darnold suffered a glute injury. Yes, as Rapoport puts it, Darnold has "hurt his
butt." The injury is not considered to be major.
Right now, Darnold is expected to miss "a couple games" however, there remains hope he could be available for the Week 3 game against the Commanders on the road. Rapoport's full reporting on the topic can be seen in the tweet below.
From @NFLGameDay Morning: Injury updates from this week, as #Seaahawks QB Sam Darnold actually has a glute injury, #Patriots WR AJ Brown is out about six weeks, and #49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling (deltoid ligament) is out at least a month. pic.twitter.com/0VlHlIzgw7

Seattle seems to have caught several breaks with Darnold's injury. First and foremost, the severity, as we have discussed above. Second, despite the Seahawks' challenging schedule, the timing of the injury has been quite fortuitous as well. Seattle is headed to the desert for a road game against the Arizona Cardinals, and the Seahawks shouldn't have any problem with them with or without Darnold under center. Even if Darnold has to miss Week 3, the Commanders don't match up well against Seattle, and the team should be well-suited to face them as well.
Seahawks Wire will continue to monitor any and all injury updates related to Sam Darnold.
