The Seattle Seahawks have a linebacker unit that helped the team win the Super Bowl at the end of last season, but where do they rank among the best units in the NFL heading into next season?
Pro Football Focus ranked the Seahawks’ linebacker unit No. 4 overall in their evaluation of the best groups in the league at the position ahead of Week 1.
”The Seahawks had three linebackers play 300 or more snaps in 2025, and all three earned PFF grades above 60.0,” PFF’s Gordon McGuinness said. “Tyrice Knight was the highest-graded of the three, with his 78.8 PFF grade ranking ninth at the position, though it came on a smaller sample size of just 327 snaps. Drake Thomas placed 23rd with a 72.9 PFF grade, while Ernest Jones’ 76.5 PFF run-defense grade sat
22nd.”
The San Francisco 49ers’ (No. 1), Philadelphia Eagles’ (No. 2) and Houston Texans’ (No. 3) units were all ranked ahead of the Seahawks’.
Jones was a second-team All-Pro honoree in 2025, and despite the criticism against his game, played at a high level for Seattle last season, including five interceptions on the year. Knight had big moments throughout the year and has already made his presence felt in the preseason, making him a player to watch in 2026. Thomas had a career year in 2025, having recorded his first career interception, as well as 3.5 sacks and eight passes defensed on the year.
