The Seattle Seahawks need continued production from running back Emanuel Wilson after he assumed a larger role and helped drive the team to a 30-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.
Wilson recorded 21 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown in Week 4, and added three receptions for 39 yards and a receiving touchdown. His 120 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns gave Seattle a needed lift on offense as the Chargers gave the Seahawks a tough fight in the matchup.
The performance followed another high-volume outing in Week 2, when Wilson recorded 21 carries for 92 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. Wilson has now demonstrated the ability to absorb a starter’s workload while providing complementary value as a receiver.
Seattle’s need for
that consistency has increased with Jadarian Price on injured reserve. Price has yet to deliver a comparably productive game through the opening four weeks of the season, leaving Wilson as the backfield’s most established option at the present. For Seattle to maintain balance and avoid placing too much on its passing game, Wilson will need to continue converting volume carries into efficient production and finish scoring opportunities. Playing the way he did in Weeks 2 and 4 will be the recipe for success for the Seahawks moving forward.
