The Seattle Seahawks have officially designated Velus Jones Jr.‘s position for the 2026 NFL season, according to the Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta.

”Seahawks have officially changed position of Velus Jones Jr. back to running back,” Condotta said. “He had been listed as a WR but has been playing RB all camp to help add to depth there. Now move is official.”

Jones was drafted by the Chicago Bears with the No. 71 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played wide receiver for the first three seasons of his career with the Bears (2022-24) and the Carolina Panthers (2024) before switching to running back with the New Orleans Saints and the Seahawks in 2025.

Velus Jones Jr. rushed the ball four times for 32 yards for the Seahawks during the 2025 regular

season. He also had six attempts for 10 yards in the 41-6 blowout Divisional Round victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Additionally, Jones was elevated to the roster for Super Bowl LX.

The Seahawks add Jones to a running back room that consists of rookie Jadarian Price, Zach Charbonnet, Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Jacardia Wright.
