Easily the most shocking news of the 2026 NFL season is related to the health of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. On Monday morning, word got out that Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season due to multiple blood clots in his lungs.
Yes, you read that right. Blood clotS. Plural. Hurts missed Philly's Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers due a blood clot in his calf, which was apparently discovered prior to the Eagles' Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. ESPN is reporting Hurts was in a London hospital until 4:00 am the day before the game because falling asleep was considered a risk. Apparently playing football later that day wasn't considered a risk to the Eagles' medical staff.

Of course our thoughts first and foremost at Seahawks Wire is nothing but prayers for Jalen Hurts' recovery. This is a deadly serious issue he is dealing with, and it is absolutely not a stretch to say this could very well be career-ending, if not potentially life altering to some degree. Hurts' health is the priority here.
Although this is obviously going to drastically alter the outcome of Philly's season, it does affect the Seahawks as well. Seattle is slated to travel to the City of Brotherly Love for a standalone Saturday afternoon Week 15 game on December 19th. Clearly, Hurts is not going to be apart of that game. With Hurts gone, the Eagles' season is likely to crater, especially with Philly already suffering the loss of star running back Saquon Barkley for the past few games. What was billed as a late-season showdown between NFC heavyweights might have considerably less impact, at least on Philly's side. Seattle will surely be favored in a crucial-to-them late December opportunity to stack a win.
As for Saquon Barkley... if the 2-4 Eagles' season continues to falter the way we all feel it will, Philly could be looking to blow up the roster to kickstart a rebuild. One such piece that would be quite appealing to contenders is Barkley, even with his injuries and his hefty salary (although there is a potential out at the end of the year). Seattle's ground attack is struggling, and general manager John Schneider is not afraid to make splash moves midseason in order to help his team. The Seahawks should consider Barkley if the Eagles become truly grounded this year.
