The Seattle Seahawks signed quarterback Adrian Martinez and linebacker Jamie Sheriff to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to The Athletic’s Andrew Destin, as the team prepares for its Week 9 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
Martinez entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions in 2023. Seattle is now the fourth team that he has been a part of. Martinez has played in one game in his career, which came in 2025 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
Sheriff also entered the league as an undrafted free agent with Seattle out of South Alabama. He has since spent time with multiple organizations, including the Carolina Panthers and most recently the Los Angeles Rams before returning to the Seahawks.
With Sam Darnold
sidelined for Week 9 with a quad injury, Martinez's addition provides the team with another quarterback that they will have the choice to call-up in the event that more depth is needed on the active roster. His arrival gives Seattle an additional option behind Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe as the team navigates around Darnold's absence.
The Seahawks will face the Cardinals in a divisional matchup Sunday. With playoff positioning and NFC West implications ahead, Seattle will look to protect its home field and come away with a needed win against Arizona.
