If you are finding yourself thinking "wait, how did the Seahawks lose?" You are not alone. They shouldn't have! When you look at the box score you will see pure domination from the Seahawks. Seattle outgained Denver in total yards, had almost double the amount of first downs, and held the ball longer. Yet they were the ones on the losing end of a 17-14 kind of game.
The Seahawks' squandered yet another incredibly winnable game, thanks in large part due to some atrocious turnovers, with the primary culprit being quarterback Sam Darnold. With such a frustrating loss, there are plenty of stats out there that will only reinforce the 12th Man's shock level of how this team lost on Thursday night.
We at Seahawks Wire wanted to compile several of them
here, and most are from the Associated Press' Josh Dubow for credit sake. So here you go, 12's, some miserable nuggets that will amaze you in the worst way possible.
No. 1 - Seahawks squander the Dark Side
Seahawks lose back to back games allowing fewer than 275 net yards of offense in each for first time since first 2 weeks of 1993 season
— Josh Dubow (@JoshDubowAP) October 16, 2026
The Seahawks have blown back-to-back incredible performances from their defense, showing just how atrocious the offense has been. The next stat shows just how bad.
No. 2 - In the same category as Cleveland!?
Seahawks are first team since 2024 Browns to have back to back games with 5+ sacks allowed, 3+ giveaways. Only other times Seattle did it in last 40 seasons:
— Josh Dubow (@JoshDubowAP) October 16, 2026
Weeks 9-10 in 2020
Weeks 2-3 in 1993
Any time you are in a category with the Cleveland Browns is a bad time to say the least.
No. 3 - Seahawks offensive line isn't protecting Sam Darnold
Sam Darnold against the Broncos, per @SumerSports:
— Shawn Syed (@SyedSchemes) October 16, 2026
*Pressured: 7/20, 58 yards, 5 sacks, 4 throwaways
*Not pressured: 20/31, 220 yards
Sam Darnold is a severely "pressure sensitive" quarterback. We've known this for a while now, and the fact the Seahawks are struggling to protect him is leading to disastrous play from him.
No. 4 - Perhaps a first in NFL history
The Seahawks had zero three-and-outs all game, while the Broncos had 9 three-and-outs.
— Timo Riske (@Timo_NFL) October 16, 2026
Chances that this was the first win in NFL history with zero three-and-outs forced on defense and 9+ three-and-outs on offense are quite high?
No. 5 - More bad o-line numbers
Most QB pressures allowed in a game by the Seahawks since 2025, per @NextGenStats:
— NFL Researcher (@NFL_Researcher) October 16, 2026
1. Tonight vs Broncos - 24*
2. Week 3 at Commanders - 17
3. Week 5 vs 49ers - 16
*In regulation
No. 6 - The Dark Side is suffocating
The Seahawks have allowed just 3.96 yards per play this season.
— Cameron Van Til (@CameronVanTil) October 16, 2026
That makes them the first defense since 2008 to allow fewer than 4.0 yards per play through the first six games of a season, per Stathead.
Below are the other three defenses to achieve the feat this century. pic.twitter.com/PSvKAX8KgQ
I know this is another praise for the defense, but it is simultaneously a severe criticism of how this offense is blowing tremendous opportunities presented to them by their defense. And a bonus one...
Seahawks lose a game allowing less than 3 yards per play (2.95) for 2nd time in franchise history. They lost 16-3 to Bucs in Week 12 of 1999 (2.6/play)
— Josh Dubow (@JoshDubowAP) October 16, 2026
No. 7 - The Seahawks couldn't find a way to win with this?
The Denver Broncos won 17-14 against the Seattle Seahawks despite not completing a pass of 10+ air yards
— Shawn Syed (@SyedSchemes) October 16, 2026
Teams have won without completing a 10+ air yard pass just 19 times since 2016, per @SumerSports
No. 8 - The Seahawks are too JSN reliant
JSN accounts for 35% of the Seahawks scrimmage yards this season, the highest rate by any WR in NFL history
— Doug Clawson (@doug_clawson) October 16, 2026
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a quality player and he elevates this Seattle offense, but the team needs production from someone else to help make this offense more three dimensional.
No. 9 - A defense for Sam Darnold
"In the last 4 seasons, quarterbacks that throw the ball 50 or more times are 4-43. This isn't about Sam Darnold."@colincowherd doesn't blame Darnold for the Seahawks' loss pic.twitter.com/ISGuOJq3eO
— Herd w/Colin Cowherd (@TheHerd) October 16, 2026
Whether or not you want to agree with Cowherd on this take, one thing is certain: Sam Darnold is throwing the ball too much. Darnold with 51 attempts is not a recipe for success, even if he was playing well.
No. 10 - The Seahawks are shockingly bad in overtime
