Uchenna Nwosu may be the Seattle Seahawks’ most important future free-agent for 2027 that the team will need to game plan around retaining, or replacing with like talent once the next offseason rolls around.
Nwosu is in a pivotal stage of his career with the Seahawks and his free agency will present Seattle with major decisions to make, as Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox pointed out. Nwosu’s ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks, defend the run and provide experience along the defensive front makes him a valuable piece of Seattle’s defense. He is already off to a great start to the 2026 season, and his importance to the Seahawks is paramount, alongside fellow edge rushers DeMarcus Lawrence, Derick Hall and Dante Fowler Jr.
Seattle’s defensive
identity depends on creating pressure and disrupting offenses, and Nwosu has the versatility to contribute in several areas. Losing him in free agency will create another significant need for a team trying to remain competitive at the highest level.
The Seahawks will have to weigh Nwosu’s age, production and long-term value when determining whether to offer him a new contract. If he stays healthy and plays at a high level, retaining Nwosu may be one of Seattle’s biggest priorities for 2027.
