The Seattle Seahawks have fallen to 0-2 in the 2026 NFL preseason thanks to their 19-16 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Although Seattle showed improvement from their ugly 17-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last weekend, it has still been a tough start for the reigning Super Bowl LX champions this August.
Seattle began the game with a bang, scoring on all three possessions in the first quarter. Backup quarterback Drew Lock engineered back-to-back touchdown drives to start the game, and a Jason Myers field goal to build a 16-3 first quarter lead. But that's where the wheels started to fall off for Seattle, who failed to score another point from that moment onwards.

No. 1 - Drew Lock isn't about to lose his backup spot
After Sunday night, Drew Lock isn't going to have to worry about job security any time soon. I made a pun online about how he LOCKed up his roster spot, and while it's a terrible joke, it's also accurate. Lock finished the game completing 12-of-14 passes for 103 yards and threw a 36-yard touchdown strike to tight end Elijah Arroyo. Lock even began the game completing 11-straight passes, which was only broken up when Montorie Foster Jr. barely dropped what should have been another touchdown in the endzone. Seattle's offense was moving the ball with ease when Lock was under center. After that? Well...
No. 2 - Jalen Milroe had a rough night
Lock has job security because second year quarterback Jalen Milroe is nowhere near ready to take the backup reigns, let alone anything more than that. Seattle took Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft as a project to develop for a few years. Given his tantalizing athletic ability, the logic made sense then and it still does now. But man, he is clearly a project, not a prospect, and that's an important distinction. On Sunday night, Milroe was 6-for-11, passing for 52 total yards and threw two interceptions. The second was especially brutal. Seattle's defense forced a stop on 4th down deep in their own territory (after their offense turned the ball over on downs themselves thanks to Milroe getting sacked on 4th down) to give the team one last shot to tie/win with 3:17 left. On the first play of the drive, Milroe threw an interception.
Through two preseason games, Jalen Milroe has helmed 11 drives that have netted the Seahawks 103 yards of offense and have scored zero (0) points. Yikes.
No. 3 - Special teams were anything but special on Sunday night
One of the keys to Seattle's dominance last season was directly the result of their special teams - the best unit in the NFL. While I'm not anywhere close to panicking, it was a bad night for Jay Harbaugh's unit as well. Jason Myers missed his first PAT attempt of the night, and later missed a 44-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter. Had he made that, Seattle would have been at least tied with the Titans 19-19 in the fourth quarter. Wide receiver Cody White also muffed a punt return which gave Tennessee the ball deep in the Seahawks' territory, which resulted in a field goal for the Titans.
No. 4 - Jacardia Wright and Montorie Foster want to make this team
Seattle will likely be employing a running back by committee approach to start the year, and Jacardia Wright is making it known he wants apart of that rotation. Wright was the best player on offense for the Seahawks on Sunday night, rushing 81 yards on eight carries, including a 69-yard touchdown. Who helped make that touchdown possible? Wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr., who had a crucial block in the middle of the field to open things up for Wright. Foster hauled in one reception for 24 yards, and very nearly had another touchdown in this preseason. With Jake Bobo lost to the season with a knee injury, Foster has a window of opportunity open for him.
No. 5 - Elijah Arroyo could be the secret weapon for this offense
Even with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed and AJ Barner in the mix, there is no such thing as too many options to attack a defense. Seattle is obviously looking for more options for both Sam Darnold and to keep defenses not entirely focused on JSN. Could that option be second year tight end Elijah Arroyo? Injuries limited Arroyo in his rookie year, but the Seahawks did draft him to be a receiving tight end. With 50 yards on the night, Arroyo led all Seattle pass catchers, and had the only receiving touchdown.
