The Seattle Seahawks are riding high after beginning the 2026 NFL season with a 13-10 win over the New England Patriots.
Pro Football Focus ranked the Seahawks No. 6 overall in their Week 2 power rankings after securing the big victory over the Patriots in a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl.
“If you told the Seahawks that Sam Darnoldwould play only five snaps into the season opener, alarm bells would have rung,” PFF’s Bradley Locker said. “Yet Seattle still found a way to prevail over the Patriots again thanks to its stout defense, relying on unsung contributors like Nehemiah Pritchett (81.3 PFF coverage grade) and Uchenna Nwosu (76.7 overall PFF grade).”
The Seahawks overcame an early setback when quarterback Sam Darnold left the game due to
injury, turning instead to Drew Lock and a defense that delivered in decisive moments. Lock completed 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown, while Seattle’s defense produced three interceptions and preserved the lead with an end-zone takeaway late in the game.
Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was Seattle’s top offensive performer, catching eight passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. His 45-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter tied the game and shifted momentum toward the Seahawks. Rookie running back Jadarian Price also made an early impact, rushing for 52 yards on 10 attempts and adding two receptions.
The Seahawks are an elite Super Bowl contender in the league and their Week 1 performance showed that they are capable of winning low-scoring, physical games with the strength of their entire team on deck. As the defending Super Bowl champions, the Seahawks face heightened expectations this year, but so far, they’ve met them.
