CBS Sports’ John Breech identified the Seattle Seahawks are being slept on as much as any defending Super Bowl champion in recent memory, and the 10.5-Win over/under shows such.
The publication rolled out this article giving opinions on each team’s win projection, and Breech was tasked with their reasoning for taking the Seahawks’ over. He doesn’t say much specifically about Seattle, though; he mentions the trend on everyone’s mind, the Los Angeles Rams dominating every conversation about the Seahawks. They played out an all-time trilogy of a rivalry in 2025, Seattle won two out of three and went on to take the Super Bowl, and still isn’t seen as the protagonist. Los Angeles’ media market seems to help, as do the constant off-field headlines
their players pop up in. Breech doesn’t lean into this, simply saying, “I think the Seahawks will go toe-to-toe with them for the NFC West title.”
He’s not wrong to consider it close. He mentions that he feels the sense of excitement around the runners up, while most aren’t talking about the ones who actually won. He says “Everyone is all-in on the Rams,” but you get the sense he isn’t overly eager himself. The entire NFL world is intrigued after they made the biggest non-quarterback trade in NFL history, landing for 2025 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett right after he set the single-season sack record. Swaying Aaron Donald to come out of retirement and play with him is also an interesting story and could result in one of the best defensive lines of all time. However, the conversation’s still tired. Until it’s time to go position group by position group, let’s take a step back and look at the enormous pressure the Rams face, which the Seahawks look and feel the complete opposite of. They are very different, but never predict a rivalry purely on paper.
