Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has joined Hall of Famers Elroy Hirsch, Randy Moss and Jerry Rice as the only players in NFL history to record at least 100 receiving yards and a touchdown reception in four of their team’s first five games of a season.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the statistical achievement on Wednesday.
Smith-Njigba has played sensationally throughout the first five games of the 2026 season. His four qualifying performances featured three straight performances of at least 120 REC yards from Weeks 1-3, highlighted by a 155-yard, three TD performance against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, and another qualifying performance in Week 5. JSN has established himself among the league’s most productive receivers
early in the season. His combination of consistent yardage and scoring production this season places him alongside three of the most outstanding pass catchers in NFL history.
Hirsch achieved the milestone with the Los Angeles Rams in 1951, finishing the season with 1,495 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. Moss did so with the New England Patriots in 2007, recording 1,493 receiving yards and 23 touchdown receptions. Rice reached the mark with the San Francisco 49ers in 1989, when he totaled 1,483 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. Each went on to cement a legacy as an all-time great receiver, making Smith-Njigba’s early-season achievement a notable addition to the league’s historical record.
